#34.

This picture went from going really well in the beginning, to a big hideous mess in the middle, and in the end, a not quite so hideous mess.
All in all, I'd say it was an ok experience. Maybe worth it. Maybe not.

Face #30. Faceless.

I may be cheating by reusing my silhouettes for another project... especially considering they have no real faces to begin with. But weren't you wondering what I was going to do with them?

I admit that landscapes are not my strong point (or is it a seascape?), but the only way to learn is by trying.

Face #19. Kites.

I made a collage similar to this a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't quite turn out as I had hoped. One thing that has been frustrating with collages is that the paper curls up.... I noticed that some artists use a block of wood as a canvas, which is kind of cool because you can just hang it straight on the wall without a frame. I asked my hubby if he had any spare boards laying around that might work, and it just so happened that he had just torn a wall out of the bathroom (yes, that very day) of our 90 year old house that was full of cedar boards with old newspapers plastered to them. So I recycled them and got a pile of new wooden canvases!

It's a little messy, but I like that the kites are bigger and the people are smaller.

This is the original one:

Justin was bugging me because there's not really a face in today's piece - but I said, "They have faces! You just can't see them!"
I can make up my own rules! That's what great about this.

Face #12. Mixed Media.

This started out as a couple of magazine scraps glued to a piece of paper. I could see a face shape, piece if hair, and scarf  in the lines and shadows and just followed along with it.

Face #11. Wooden Doll.

I carved this doll out on a lathe today. Seriously!
Well, I did at least 50% of the work.
These things are going to be the new Little People!

Face #2.5. Self Portrait.

I did this one last night before bed. I guess one face a day just isn't enough for me! ;)

Self portrait.
