Face #168.

I was pretty happy with the way this sketch was turning out... until I left it and went to make breakfast.
A little boy came and scribbled all over it.

If I've learned anything from this project, it's that art is more about the experience than it is about the result.

#141-145.

I haven't had time for anything fancy this week, so I just decided to stick with quick pencil sketches.

Face #138.

I checked out a children's book at the library, and it had the coolest illustrations. They had a lot of movement, messily drawn with pencil, and painted with watercolor over the top. I tried using the same technique today. I'm not super happy with it, just because colors can be so difficult. For me, anyway. But I will probably try this again.

Today I came across a daily portrait project by a Dutch artist named Jacob de Graaf. Click to see.

Face #115.

Today my goal was to draw, without a reference, a picture of someone laughing . I'm actually surprised at how well it turned out. It isn't normal for me to draw without looking at something, so this is a big step for me.

Face #102.

Saturday I saw the most picture perfect couple walking by my house; nerdy guy with a guitar on his back, and a girl with a smaller instrument case on her back, pushing a bicycle.
I tried to re-create the scene from memory.

#75.

I haven't posted in FIVE days! I apologize if anyone was really sad about it. I am still alive though and have been creating something every day. This one is from Thursday, just a quick sketch of one of my favorite photos - my little guy in his (homemade) lion costume. I stuck it by the kids' art supplies and it got a little wrinkled... oops.

Face #67.

So...... I woke up at 1:30 am and realized that I had completely forgotten my face yesterday. Luckily, I had to pee, so I decided to grab a piece of paper and pencil on the way, and use those and my trusty bathroom mirror to do another lame self-portrait. Do I look crazy? Because I am.

Face #64.

I made a few quick sketches of my son while he was coloring. These were pretty fun :)
(he helped with the red marker).
